What can you offer the internet?

Many people who use the internet do so in a passive way. They merely browse through different web pages and sift out information that they need. Members of the medical community also use the internet for the same purpose. They surf the world wide web for usable information. Members of academic departments may have their own web sites where they offer information about the work in their departments. However, very few members of the medical community use the internet to disseminate information that they have and which others may find useful.

The internet is fast becoming a way in which health and medical-related information is disseminated and much of this however is from universities and other academic institutions. Part of the function of the HealthMall website is to allow generalists and other members of this field to set up their own sites which will be advertised to the medical fraternity. These pages may contain practical information on clinical or practice-related topics which other medical professionals can read and apply to their own practices.

Imagine if a generalist sees a very interesting case of shingles or any other dermatological lesion or anything for that matter that might interest the medical fraternity. This should be shared (as long as the patient's privacy is still respected and not violated). With this idea of generalists and other "little men" in the medical field having their own sites, they too can contribute to this field.
